Jason Bourne (2016)

I have mixed feelings about this movie. I liked the previous films, including The Bourne Legacy. This newest addition to the franchise gives us everything that we had previously been given in the other films. Espionage, conspiracy, intrigue, fast paced action. The downside to all of this, is that it is expected and not all that invigorating. There is nothing in this film that we haven’t seen before, and after four movies, there should be more to the story.

Star Trek Beyond (2016)

The latest installment of the Star Trek franchise is fresh, fun and fantastic. For the first time since the reboot, we have a brand new story, not a retelling, with some pretty cool new villains, and some awesome new places. Granted, I have never been a dedicated trekkie, so I could be wrong and there are references to some things from the old series and films that I didn’t pick up, so these new places may not be new at all. However I don’t care. It was awesome.

Sunday Viewing:- Good Witch (2015-)

For a lazy weekend, I like to watch simple, fun and cheesy kind of shows. Most of my Sundays are spent watching shows like Gilmore Girls, Grace and Frankie, and Will & Grace. in between episodes (i.e waiting for the internet to speed up to actually play the episode) I try and find more shows that have potential for Sunday viewing. My most recent find has been the Hallmark show, Good Witch.

The Legend of Tarzan (2016)

It’s hard to appreciate a film when you are in a packed cinema and seated between a noisy teenager who continually elbows you as their lanky form moves about when checking their messages from bae every ten seconds, and an overzealous fan who makes loud inappropriate catcalls at Alexander Skarsgard whenever he is topless (f.y.i, this is 85% of the film). Despite this, when they both shut up, I was able to enjoy the film.

The BFG (2016)

The latest adaptation of the classic book proves once again that the stories of Roald Dahl are as great and relevant today as when they were first written.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Despite what the majority of critical reviews are saying, this film is quite fun to watch. I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. Despite the fact that at times it felt as if there were too many characters and the plot seemed ridiculous, this film packs a lot of explosions and some  great effects that are a joy to see play out.

Finding Dory (2016)

Finding Dory is the long awaited sequel to the family favorite, Finding Nemo. Unfortunately for Dory, this sequel does not live up to its predecessor. Considering that we have been waiting around 14 years for this film, I would have expected the story to be a lot better. instead, it felt rushed, un-researched and less emotional.
